FAQs
"What type of corn snake should I get as a beginner?"
Here at Snakely Reptiles we have a couple of different varieties of corn snakes. Corn snakes do make very good beginner snakes but there are a couple you might want to avoid as a not experienced snake keeper. The most high maintenance corn snake is the sun kisses corn snake. These snakes are usually very picky eaters and are not easy to tame, thats why we don't recommend them for beginners. Also you should stay away from scaleless snakes as a beginner all together as they are much more brittle then just regular corn snake.
Can I have a venomous snake, or poisonous snake, and are all snakes deadly?
So the answer technically is no, unless you are incredibly experienced and even professionally trained on handling venomous snakes it would be incredibly irresponsible to get one. Here at Snakely Reptiles we do not sell or own venomous snakes just due to lack of training with such deadly creatures. And a common mistake is calling snakes, poisonous, snakes are all actually venomous. So finding a poisonous snake would be impossible. Another common mistake is that if you get bitten by any snake at all you can die from the venom. But if you look at the numbers only 20 percent of snakes in the world are venomous and only 7 percent are deadly to humans.
How and what does a snake eat?
Snakes are most commonly known to eat rodents, though there are a few that will eat fish or different underwater creatures. Each snake has a slightly different diet that suits the individual and you will have to do some research to find the best meals for your snake. Snakes usually eat about once a week but it really depends on the individual. if you want to know more detail about snake eating we have a video on youtube that will give you full detail on how to and what to feed your snake.
What kind of cage does my snake need
It really depends on your snake. But there are some things you want to make sure your snake has in its cage. There are two most common cages, glass and tanks. We do have a youtube video comparing prose and cons. Your snake does need a heating source. The enclosure needs a water bowl that the snake should be able to submerge itself in. There should be decorations including  some fake plants and rocks. The snake should be able to straighten itself out fully in the cage. There are many videos and fully descriptive articles on snake cages you can find so do your research to give your snake the best home you can.
